Why I Can't Watch Celebrity Family Feud

I grew up watching Family Feud hosted by Richard Dawson. I loved that show...










I loved Richard Dawson...I mean except for those leisure suits, Richard was so cool...he walked out on the Feud set looking like he should have a drink in his hand, all suave, walking up to strange women and kissing them right on the lips...IF THEY WERE HOT!



Otherwise, it was a quick peck onthe cheek and straight to the question. As a 13 year old kid I thought how great is must be to have a built in excuse to kiss beautiful women, but I remember thinking Old Rich probably goes through a lot of breath mints!








After Richard Dawson left Family Feud they went through a series of mostly forgettable hosts. There was Ray Combs, then Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, and currently John O'Hurley....none of them coming close to the original host.

And now, just in time for the summer of 2008 it's Celebrity Family Feud....Not a bad idea in theory. Afterall, American's love to watch celebrities do everyday things...potentially embarassing themselves in the process.


Take for example Denise Richards: It's Complicated...




Or The Two Coreys...starring two of the biggest teen stars of the 80's...Corey Feldman and Corey Haim.




So, the same geniuses that came up with show's like these decided to have Al Roker host Celebrity Family Feud...Yeah...Al Roker...the weather dude from the Today Show.



Look, I have nothing against Al Roker...I actually like the guy much better than I ever liked that other weather guy they used to have on that show, Willard Scott.


But the truth of the matter is...I can't watch Al now that he's lost all the weight. I know it sounds horrible...but I liked the guy when he was heavier. Maybe it's because he just seemed friendlier or more easy going...I can't really put my finger on it.



I know in reality that Al is probably happier now that he's thin. He's adopted a new healthy life-style, watches what he eats, and excercises regularly....and I hope he's around for a long time to watch his kid grow up...but the fact remains that I can't watch him host Celebrity Family Feud...and if a huge hurricane moves up the coast to Maine...where will I be getting my weather report?
